I just quit my job to travel the world! // WeAreAdventure.us

I gave three weeks notice at my office job just over a week ago. While I have learned a ton, met some seriously wonderful people, & sipped some very delicious lattes while I managed the Social Media presence for Torani, it has come time for me to leave on a very grand adventure.

It is one of those life moments where I have decided that the dream of travel cannot wait a moment longer. I have always wanted to travel the world & if I don’t travel the world NOW, there is no true guarantee that I ever will, you know? So I’m off.

(I’ve been thinking about it on Twitter a lot recently, too: one / two / three / four / five)

First up, I’ll be heading down to Santa Barbara to visit friends & go to a photography conference called Field Trip. We’ll be staying at summer camp, hanging out & talking about photography around a campfire, & learning a ton from quite a few photographers that I really admire. I can’t wait!

Next, I’ll be going to Uganda for three weeks! I’ll be visiting Delanie in Kampala & traveling around from there. I’m looking in to doing some photography volunteer work while I’m in Uganda, but none of that has been made official just yet. I’m simultaneously very very excited (!!!) about this trip & a little nervous, too. It’s not that I need to be scared, but I’ve never been to a place so different from my home! Uganda is going to be so completely different from Japan, which is probably the farthest I’ve ever been before this.

Third, Sam & I are going to spend TWO MONTHS backpacking through Europe. I’m insanely excited about this! He’s coming back from New York today & we’ll be finalizing our flexible plans & booking our airline ticket by the end of the weekend. I’ll keep you all up to date on the plans we’ve got for Europe as they progress, but the tentative idea is: Italy, Switzerland, Germany (I’m dying to go here), France, & Spain. I’ve never been to any of these places & am SO excited.

At some point before November 15th, Sam & I will be taking that trip that I won to South Africa. It’s a ten day trip to begin with, but we’re allowed to extend the trip on our own dime & we’ll definitely be doing that. All this depends slightly on how my wedding photography season plans out (I’m still signing contracts!), but our original plan of going in June was just too much planning to handle. We don’t know people in South Africa, despite many many people saying amazing things about it & many locals offering to show us around or give us tips (omg) & planning that AND Europe was just too much for my brain to compute. So that one will wait, but will obviously definitely be happening, so stay tuned!

A lot of traveling by train in my future! - Just quit my job to travel the world! // WeAreAdventure.us

& now you know! I’m hoping to explore the amazing USA between weddings this summer, but I’m also going to just need to see how all this travel turns out. Will I fall in love with exploring the world more & more each week? (Yes.) Will my inner homebody come out, get homesick, & tell me I need a little more California in my life? (Probably also yes.)

We’ll see! In the meantime, on to more adventures! ahhhh!
