Maybe it’s because I’m a little homesick that I am posting this now. Not the I want to go home kind of homesick, but the kind where a good hug from my parents, Momma’s cooking, a cuddle from my little Pipi dog… all these things would make me smile real big right now. I really love traveling. I love it here. I love exploring & learning & getting lost. But I also really (really) love California. Ya know? 🙂
Northern California is known for the redwoods. They’re tall, they’re old, they’re magical & impressive. Muir Woods is definitely a tourist spot, but once you battle the crowds, it only takes a ten minute walk to lose everybody. Lose the hustle & bustle & find yourself in this.
The trails are mostly flat, which makes for a nice stroll. You can take longer hikes if you want, but if you just want to appreciate, there’s plenty for that, too. They are old trees. Perfect for appreciating.
The light in here is magical. Even on a foggy day, when the mist comes in through the canopy. (Bring a jacket, even if it’s warm out.)
The trees are old & giant. They’ve been here since before I was born & many will live after I am gone. What perspective, huh?

VISIT / Get all the info for visiting Muir Woods right here on the park website. It’s a $7 admission rate & parking is free. Bring your tennis/walking shoes & some water & really enjoy the trails.

I agree that Muir Woods is a must! There are many walking and hiking trails to get away from the crowds and get some views. I completely agree with the homesick. It isn’t that you need to go home, but it is more remembering the great things you have accessible where you live 🙂

Oh Muir Woods, you smell so good! I have been there only once but I can remember how amazing the scent there was. And so true, beautiful light. But we almost got lost there, you can hike for days.
Definitely smells amazing. Definitely has gorgeous light. Definitely can hike for ages. One of the best places, right?! 🙂
